Dog Bed with Removable Cover: When It’s Worth It
In short: A removable cover is particularly worthwhile for large beds that do not fit in the washing machine and for dogs that often make the bed dirty. For small and medium sizes, a completely washable bed is often just as practical and has no zipper that the dog can chew on.
Advantages of a removable cover
- Even large beds are washable: You only wash the cover, not the entire bed.
- Dries quickly: A cover dries faster than an entire bed with filling.
- Filling retains its shape: The filling does not go into the machine.
Our model with removable covers: Lucky
With Lucky, the pillow and border have covers with zippers. Wash them at 30 degrees without spinning and let them dry flat. The fine corduroy is soft, resistant to moisture, does not absorb odors, and hair can be easily removed. It withstands 100,000 cycles in the Martindale test and has been tested for claw resistance according to BS 8479. Lucky is available in seven sizes from XS (55 x 45 cm) to 3XL (130 x 110 cm).
The alternative: completely washable beds
Soft Stripe, Dream, Meallow and Candy are permanently sewn and can go completely into the washing machine at 30 degrees. The filling does not shift, and there is no zipper. For large sizes, check beforehand whether the bed fits loosely in your drum.
Removable inner pillow
With Fluffy Nelo and Shaggy, the inner pillow is removable. Shake it out and air it out, wipe the outer fabric with a damp cloth.
Washing the cover correctly
- Close the zipper before washing.
- 30 degrees, delicate cycle, without spinning, mild detergent.
- Dry flat in the air, not in the dryer.
- Only put it back on once the cover is completely dry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which dog bed has a removable cover?
With us, it's the Lucky model: the pillow and border have covers with zippers.
Is a removable cover better for large dogs?
Often yes, because beds in XXL or 3XL do not fit in every washing machine. With a removable cover, you only wash the cover.
Can the cover go in the dryer?
No. Let it dry flat in the air.
