Dog Bed for French Bulldogs and Pugs
In short: Pugs usually fit well in size S (50 x 40 cm sleeping area). For a French Bulldog, go by weight: up to 8 kg size S, over that size M (60 x 50 cm sleeping area). Both breeds like a firm edge they can rest their head on.
The right size

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 to 8 kg | S | 65 x 55 cm | 50 x 40 cm | M, 60 cm |
| 8 to 15 kg | M | 80 x 65 cm | 60 x 50 cm | L, 90 cm |
Measure your dog lying down from nose to tail base and add 15 to 20 cm. You can find the instructions in the post Which dog bed size is right?
Firm edge for resting the head
Pugs and French Bulldogs like to lie with their heads raised, often across the edge. A thickly padded, shape-retaining edge is therefore more important than a particularly large sleeping area. Candy with high edges that support the head and Soft Stripe with high, stable edges are well suited.
Warmth, yes, but not too much
Short-haired, compact dogs quickly get cold in winter, but also do not always tolerate heat well. A bed that can be moved according to the season is practical: in winter to a sheltered place, in summer to a cooler spot, never directly next to the heater. Dense plush like on Candy keeps warm, while corduroy like on Soft Stripe feels more neutral.
Square or round?
Many pugs like to curl up, while many bulldogs prefer to lie stretched out on their belly or side. For curlers, the round Meallow is ideal; for everyone else, a square bed. More on this: Round or square dog bed.
Care
Candy, Soft Stripe, Dream and Meallow can be washed completely at 30 degrees without spinning in the washing machine. In sizes S and M, they fit easily into any drum.
